Definition
A Scottish dance with four beats in a bar, with dotted rhythms, and usually featuring the Scotch snap.
A Strathspey often comes before a reel. It is in simple time and is usually in a major key, at a slow tempo.
Examples
A strathspey played on accordion.
A Strathspey and Reel played on the fiddle. The tempo changes with the arrival of the Reel at about 2 minutes in.
