Definition

The music sounds in a major key (tonality) – often described as having a bright, cheery, uplifting, triumphant or happy feel to it.

A major scale is built on an order of tones and semitones and follows the musical alphabet (e.g. C D E F G A B C). The order is tone, tone, semitone, tone, tone, tone, semitone.
