Definition
A scale is a series of notes. The harmonic minor scale is formed using the following pattern: tone, semitone, tone, tone, semitone, tone and a half, semitone.

A harmonic minor scale can begin on any note. Here is the scale of G harmonic minor:

A harmonic minor scale shares the same key signature as its relative major but raises the 7th note by a semitone, both ascending and descending.
